Hydrogen surge against battery-powered electric cars
In recent weeks, a solution has resurfaced in the mobility news: hydrogen. In addition to the discovery of deposits, several manufacturers are relaunching H2 investments, such as Hyundai and Škoda.
Hyundai has been a loyal supporter of hydrogen for a long time. The Korean manufacturer is even one of the only ones to offer a model for sale: the Nexo. It's now partnering with Škoda. The two brands have signed a memorandum of understanding for the implementation of a hydrogen economy. The memorandum of understanding covers, among other things, fuel cell technologies (FCEV). This solution allows the car to produce its own electricity with stored hydrogen and ambient air to power an electric motor. Once the H2 in the tanks is used up (a few kilos), the "filling up" is done in 5 to 10 minutes. Hyundai and Škoda share the idea that hydrogen will be an essential pillar in the realization of a future sustainable mobility ecosystem.
