Chinese visit Audi factory in Belgium

The car factory in Forest, in Brussels, Belgium, is condemned by Audi. The manufacturer is trying to sell it to another manufacturer. Chinese people came to visit it. And they represented a promising brand.

The Audi factory in Belgium will no longer produce for the Volkswagen group. But its activity could continue. According to the Dutch-language economic daily De Tijd, a delegation from Nio visited the Brussels site. This high-end Chinese manufacturer was born in 2014. It immediately made an impression in 2016 with the EP9, a 1,341 hp electric hypercar in very small series. Since then, the range has been built around SUVs, sedans and an electric station wagon. Nio has big ambitions.

For the European market

Nio already sells its 100% electric models in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. It has already installed dozens of battery exchange stations there, for very rapid "recharging". Its cars can also be charged at charging stations. This has put the spotlight on its products. However, Nio has had to slow down its expansion plan in Europe due to market slowdown and new customs surcharges. To remain competitive and avoid maximum taxation, it needs a factory on European territory. Audi should receive an offer by Monday, September 23, 2024.
