Breakthrough thanks to audio clip of crashed DHL plane?

Close to a residential complex near the airport of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, a Boeing 757 crashed at about 5:30 a.m. Monday morning. Here and there people immediately looked toward Russia since evidence surfaced not long ago that Russia was conducting tests by sending explosive packages to Europe. But evidence for this slant is as yet non-existent.

A day after the cargo plane crashed in Lithuania, investigators have already found the recorders with the data of the flight and the voices in the cockpit. So reports the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice.

Both recorders were removed from the wreckage Tuesday afternoon and will now be examined. The recorders may shed more light on the cause of the crash.

Terrorist attack?
The Swift Air cargo plane, which was flying from Leipzig to Vilnius on behalf of transport company DHL, crashed just next to a two-story building. The 12 residents were able to be evacuated in time. The plane caught fire. There were four people on board the DHL plane: two pilots and two crew members. One of the pilots died; the three others were taken to the hospital injured.

Lithuanian police, meanwhile, are asking residents to share images of the crash. “If anyone has videos that could be useful for the investigation, please share them with the police,” police boss Arunas Paulauskas told the public broadcaster.
