Three days of a supermoon
Our natural satellite is closest to Earth. The Moon will therefore have a brighter and more imposing appearance. This October meeting is the largest supermoon of 2024.
On October 17, 2024, the Moon will be 7% larger and 14% brighter than average. Our natural satellite is closest to our planet in its orbit. This is called the supermoon and the one in October is the most impressive of 2024. Selene* will be “only” 357,364km from Earth. The phenomenon will be visible from October 16 to 18, and for as long as the Moon is round in the sky. When it's close to the horizon, the phenomenon is even more astonishing. Our brain tends to exaggerate its size when a terrestrial landmark (trees, buildings) alters our perception. If the clouds are on your side, do not hesitate to look up to the sky, towards the light of the Moon.
