Mysterious balls force Sydney beaches to close
Mysterious grey balls washed up on the sands of Sydney have forced local authorities to close access to nine beaches.
The small, marble-sized balls prompted officials to take precautionary measures while investigations are conducted to determine their origin.
Several beaches were previously closed months ago after similar incidents. Tests conducted by local authorities at the time suggested the balls might have originated from a sewage spill.
Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins commented that the latest discoveries "could be anything."
"We don't know at the moment what it is and that makes it even more concerning. There's something that's obviously leaking or dropping... floating out there and being tossed around," she told The Guardian Australia.
