Hurricane unleashed in the United States: at least 89 dead
In its wake, Hurricane Helene came to sow chaos in the United States and more particularly in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
The latest report, that of Sunday, September 29, indicates at least 89 deaths. This weekend, the American states of the southeast have therefore begun a vast mission of relief, repair and cleaning, reports the French media Midi Libre. Storms and rains followed one another with the passage of Hurricane Helene, depriving several million homes of electricity. Roads and bridges were also destroyed due to disastrous flooding.
In the 5 states mentioned above, the hurricane claimed the lives of at least 89 people. A provisional report that, according to the authorities, could increase in the days to come. On site, it's estimated that the damage could range from 15 billion dollars to more than 100 billion.
