Canadian fights polar bear to save wife
A man did not hesitate for a second in northern Canada on Tuesday when he saw his wife being attacked by a polar bear.
The man pounced on the animal and fought with all his strength to free his wife from the strong animal's clutches. He sustained serious injuries in the process, but survived. That reassuring news comes from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.
The fight with the polar bear happened on the couple's driveway in Fort Severn First Nation, a small community of about 400 people in far northern Ontario.
A neighbour heard the noise and came out with his rifle. He fired several times at the bear, which then fled into the woods. However, the animal was hit by several bullets and died in the nearby forest.
