Alert in France: Hurricane heading straight towards the country
On September 27, a hurricane took shape in Senegal. It's currently heading towards Portugal, Spain and France.
Hurricane Kirk (category 4) was, this Sunday, October 6, 3,000km southwest of France, specifies French meteorologist Guillaume Séchet. “Depending on the trajectory it's taking, it could hit the French Atlantic coast, Vendée and Charente-Maritime, before rushing inland towards Lorraine and Belgium,” continues the specialist.
This Wednesday, October 9, when it arrives on French territory, the phenomenon will have greatly lost intensity, we will then no longer speak of a hurricane. It's the “remnants” of Kirk that will hit France and could cause a major storm, indicates Demotivateur.
The regions that will be most impacted by the storm? New Aquitaine, Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France, Grand Est, Pays de la Loire, Centre but also the south of France, Normandy and Brittany. Strong winds, with gusts reaching 130km/h, are expected. The coasts could also be submerged by waves of 10 meters high and heavy rains will soak the country.
Fortunately, the storm will not last long; by the night of Wednesday to Thursday, everything will have returned to normal.
