UK vows to increase pressure on Vladimir Putin in 2025
The United Kingdom has pledged to intensify pressure on Vladimir Putin in the coming year, according to the British Defense Secretary.
John Healy stated his goal is to place Ukraine in the "strongest possible position" ahead of potential peace negotiations in 2025.
The minister also promised to accelerate the delivery of drones, artillery, and air defense systems to support Ukraine’s efforts.
He argued that if Vladimir Putin’s forces succeed in capturing Kyiv, the Russian president won’t stop there. He added that protecting the UK begins with "defending Ukraine."
In an interview with The Sun, John Healy said: "Make no mistake, this is an unhappy Christmas for Vladimir Putin. He’s retreating from Syria with his tail between his legs."
As the war approaches its third year in February, its course could significantly shift when Donald Trump returns to the White House.
The president-elect has recently pledged to negotiate rapidly with both sides to bring an end to the "carnage."
