Smog pollutes Ukraine after Russian attack
Russian attack in Sumy hits a factory. The fire polluted the air in the Ukrainian city near the Kursk Oblast border with sulfur dioxide and nitrogen.
The city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine was targeted by Russian airstrikes on the night of August 30, 2024. A company was hit, killing 2 women and injuring 11 people. The factory manufactured packaging for household goods. Smoke from the fire that followed the attack caused smog and air pollution. According to preliminary results, a slight increase in the concentration of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide was detected in Sumy. Residents were instructed to close their windows and stay indoors.
