Russians target enemy but blow up own oil depot

On the night of 27 April, Russian Telegram channel Baza announced that Russia had managed to intercept and neutralise 17 Ukrainian drones in the west of the country... An operation that did leave traces in both camps.

The Russian defence ministry said air defences had "intercepted and destroyed 17 Ukrainian drones", including nine over the Bryansk Oblast. The other drones were shot down in Kursk, Belgorod and Kaluga.

However, the fall of one of the devices caused a major explosion in western Russia, Baza claimed. In an oil depot, a petrol tank with a capacity of nearly 700 cubic metres caught fire. According to Vladislav Chapcha, governor of Kaluga, the explosion caused no casualties.
