“Kim, this is pure filth": Cover of a Christmas hit scandalizes the web
On Christmas Eve, December 23, the star wanted to make a statement once again. And she succeeded!
On her Instagram account, Kim Kardashian released a rather “special” cover of Eartha Kitt's 1953 hit “Santa Baby”. The song is well known by the Kardashian family, since it was none other than Travis Baker, Kourtney Kardashian's husband and Kim's brother-in-law, who produced the cover.
The problem? The video clip that accompanies the cover, which makes some internet users very uncomfortable. It shows the star in a blonde wig and plunging neckline crawling around a house full of people with very atypical looks. As Belgian media outlet RTBF points out, it's like being in a dream, animated by characters each more zany than the last. And the highlight of the show? The Santa Claus who appears at the end of the video is none other than the actor from the cult Christmas film “Mommy, I Missed the Plane”, Macaulay Culkin.
When the clip was released, many Internet users were outraged. “You mean 'Baby Satan' don't you? This is not respectable art. It's pure filth and probably traumatizing for some people. A line has been crossed”, one could read on the networks. As well as: “I thought you were a Christian, Kim. This is disrespectful to Christmas”, ‘I love you Kim, but this is just too uncomfortable’, ‘You've just ruined Christmas’...
