Russians flee occupied region en masse

Zelensky wanted to bring the war to the attacker's territory, and seems to have succeeded as more than 133,000 Russians have fled the Russian border region of Kursk since the invasion by Ukrainian forces. Some 20,000 people do remain behind in the eight districts under evacuation orders.

The governor of the region announced that state of affairs in a video interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. So reports state news agency TASS.

The surprise attack by Ukrainian forces began on Aug. 6. By now, more than 1,250 square kilometers are said to have been captured.
