Putin's obsession puts Russia in open conflict with NATO

Russia is considering measures to counter "the serious threat" from NATO, which is "in fact fully involved in the conflict in Ukraine," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are obliged to analyze very carefully the decisions made Wednesday at the Washington summit, the discussions that took place and the text of the declaration that was adopted," the spokesman said.

"This is a very serious threat to national security that will oblige us to take studied, coordinated and effective measures to counter NATO," Mr. Peskov added, without specifying when these measures would be taken or their nature.

Meanwhile, Russia's former president, the controversial Dmitry Medevedev, shared his views known on X:

"The Washington summit statement of July 10 talks about 'Ukraine's irreversible path' to NATO. For Russia, there are two possible ways to complete this path: either Ukraine disappears, or NATO disappears. Better yet, both."
