Putin not considering stopping war soon
Vladimir Putin has no plans to end the war anytime soon, as Russian military command has adopted a long-term strategy to achieve its objectives.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a Washington-based think tank monitoring the conflict, Russian forces aim to capture the city of Kupiansk, in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, over the coming months rather than in the immediate weeks ahead.
While Donald Trump has vowed to bring the war to a swift end, the Kremlin—despite expressing openness to peace talks—continues to prolong the conflict, even as it suffers heavy human losses after nearly three years of war.
"The Russian military command has shown that it is willing to commit to operations that could take six to nine months to conclude.. Russian commanders are likely operating under the assumption or direct knowledge that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to end the war in Ukraine in the near future," the ISW said in an update.
