Are Russians cornered? Fire has been burning an oil depot for over 10 days
On Wednesday, the governor of Rostov (southwestern Russia), Vasily Golubev, declared on his Telegram account that a fire was underway at a fuel depot in the region.
It was a Ukrainian drone attack launched during the night that caused the fire in the Kamenski district. Vasily Golubev assured that no one had been injured. “Three tankers were ravaged by the flames,” indicates the Baza channel (close to the Russian security services). Since August 18, another fuel depot, which had been targeted by Ukrainian attacks in the same area, is still burning. At least 41 firefighters were injured while trying to put out the fire, report local authorities.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced, also on Telegram, that Russian forces had destroyed 4 drones over the city of Rostov.
As Ukraine intensifies attacks on oil depots, Russia has been forced to ration fuel and temporarily halt some exports. A few months ago, Ukrainian forces claimed they wanted to deprive Moscow of “key resources to successfully carry out its assault on its neighbor.”
