English church hosts wrestling matches to attract new worshippers
An English church has come up with a unique way to draw new members to its congregation.
St. Peter’s Church in Shipley, located in the City of Bradford district, is now hosting wrestling matches in partnership with the charity organization Kingdom Wrestling, as reported by The Times.
With this initiative, the parish aims to engage younger people who have been drifting away from churches. "We want to show that the church is a place full of life," said Reverend Natasha Thomas.
Professional wrestler Gareth Thompson also emphasized that the values upheld by wrestling align with those of the church. "Christians will tell you that in life, you wrestle with things—you wrestle with your faith. And when you face truly difficult challenges, how do you see God, and how do you hold on to your faith?"
