Dutch Belgian shoots ‘too loud’ British neighbour girl (11) dead in France
After a brief illness, Dutch Belgian D.R. died before the assize trial where he would stand trial for triple attempted murder and murder could even start.
In June 2023, the then 70-year-old Belgian living in France struck out completely. He thought his British neighbours were making too much noise and pulled out his shotgun. The neighbour had been working with the chainsaw in the garden, making too much noise, according to D.R., who was heavily under the influence of cannabis.
He reached for his Winchester .22 carbine. From about ten metres away, he fired three or four bullets. Not to scare his neighbours, as he first claimed, but aimed. Adrian Thornton (50) was hit in the head, but could be saved. Rachel (49) and little Celèste (8) were not as badly off. But Solaine (11) could not be saved anymore. The girl received a bullet straight into the heart, and died on the spot.
The perpetrator lived with his family in Finistère in Brittany, France, was born in Belgium and had a Dutch passport.
