Clinging to two fingers all night: German (61) trapped on steep wall

A 61-year-old climber from the German town of Rosenheim was convinced his last hour had been struck.

After all, he miscalculated a bit during the day and ended up stuck motherly alone on a steep wall of the Sonntagshorn in the Chiemgau Alps. That is a steep 1,961-metre-high wall that is considered challenging even for experienced climbers. He could no longer go anywhere and no one saw him in this desolate place. Even through his phone, he could not reach anyone as he had no reception. Consequently, there was nothing left for the German but to cling to the rock all night and hope for a happy ending.

And that miracle finally happened in the morning when a hiker saw him and heard him calling for help. The hiker immediately called the emergency services and after a complicated and, above all, nerve-wracking rescue operation, the German was able to set foot safely on the ground again. The man was completely exhausted and dehydrated, but fortunately can still recount the story of his climbing adventure gone wrong.
