Did Trump's right-hand man really sleep...with his couch?
This crazy rumor keeps popping up. In the United States, rumor has it that Donald Trump's running mate, J.D. Vance, had an intimate relationship with...a sofa.
On July 15, a user of X (formerly Twitter) posted this: the senator “could be the first vice-presidential pick to admit in a bestseller to having had an intimate moment with a glove pressed between two sofa cushions”. The user's account has since been locked. He claims that this piece of information comes from an excerpt from J.D. Vance's autobiographical novel “Hillbilly Elegy”, which made him a household name. A few retweets and likes on social networks is all it took to turn this story into a viral publication.
"I don't think we should have a couch-f*** (sic) as our vice-president. Or it's just me. Sorry JD." is one of the many tweets that helped this story gain momentum.
A rumor which, as you may have guessed, is totally untrue, reports the French media outlet La Dépêche. If we take the quoted passage from his book as a reference, the extract would have no connection with any such affair. In fact, the 39-year-old senator recounts his arrival at Ohio University and one of his first meals at a Chipotle restaurant.
