Here's how to extend your holiday feeling
For most people, the holidays are over or coming to an end anyway. How can you make your holiday feeling last a little longer? French television channel BFMTV asked psychologists for advice and lists five tips.
1. Immerse yourself in memories: Did you bring back a souvenir from your last holiday? Then keep it close to you: the experiences you've had will work their way into your daily life a bit longer that way.
2. Break the routine: Going to school or work again? That brings routine (or dullness if you like) back into your life. So adjust your habits slightly: even a small change, such as rearranging your time or exploring new activities, can make the restart more pleasant.
3. Integrate holiday habits: Did you discover something new during your holidays? Did you start listening to different music or discover new recipes? Keep doing this, that way you will reconnect with those pleasant moments from your holidays.
4. Restrict screen time: Your holidays may have been the ideal time to watch less TV or watch less on your phone or tablet. Keep doing this even after your holiday: if you also couple this with getting more active physically, this will reduce your stress and prolong that sense of well-being from your holiday.
5. Give your schedule a break: Don't take too much back on your plate too soon and reduce commitments that are not essential in the first few weeks: it will help you not get mentally overloaded right away. That way, you let your brain rest and calmly adjust to the work rhythm.
