Brussels horrified by brutal rape in common laundry room
Three local residents found a young woman chained by her wrists and neck to the radiator of a communal laundry room in an apartment building in Sint-Stevens-Woluwe, Brussels.
Sunday night, some residents of the apartment building on Lenneke Marelaan in Sint-Stevens-Woluwe were awakened by loud screams that cut through their stomachs. They notified the police and went looking for what was going on. Only after an hour did they find a young woman, in her early twenties, chained by her hands and neck to the radiator of a communal washroom. She appeared to be the victim of a brutal rape. She was wearing only a t-shirt and she was completely covered in blood.
The victim lives on the fourth floor in the apartment building. She told police she went to do her laundry and the perpetrator was already in the laundry room when she entered.
He must have intoxicated her with a drug, because she was momentarily unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she realized what had happened to her and began screaming in panic.
An ambulance arrived at the scene and paramedics gave the young woman initial care and then took her to the hospital. The perpetrator was able to escape, but an investigation was opened.
