Ukraine is close to joining EU
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has assured that Ukraine will join the European Union sooner than expected.
The Ukrainian president emphasised the need for persistence in achieving this goal.
When discussions about Ukraine's EU membership began, several leaders of member states warned that it could take six to eight years for Ukraine to complete all the necessary steps.
"We will go through all these stages, I am confident, and we will join the EU faster than predicted. If we continue to push forward, to keep running, to be persistent," he said.
He noted that Ukraine has already passed laws aligned with European policies, but he feels that some countries have barely noticed, largely due to the current geopolitical situation.
In June, Ukraine officially started talks to join the European Union, a move supported by the majority of member states. However, the country still needs to implement additional legislation to meet European criteria.
