"It's high time for Putin to retire"
Will the internal opposition to Vladimir Putin overcome the Kremlin leader's autocratic regime? For several months now, certain voices have been trying to make themselves heard in the Duma, the Russian parliament.
The statement by Russian Senator Nikolai Fedorov at the Akatuy celebration in Cheboksary is surprising, to say the least. It's a very dangerous statement, but particularly very dangerous for him, seeing as he hinted that it was time for Putin to retire.
And as we know, Putin does not like opposition and tries to break his opponents as soon as possible, in any way: assassinations, poisonings, accidents, ...
Nikolai Fedorov is a member of the United Russia party, he is 66 years old, he was Minister of Justice of Russia from July 14, 1991 to March 24, 1993 and Minister of Agriculture between 2012 and 2015, and then became a personal advisor to President Vladimir Putin.
Despite all this, he regularly opposed Putin's policy in the Duma. According to independent Russian media, he is the voice of the opposition within Putin's party.
Some senators believe that Putin is sending his country towards an economic meltdown and would like "things to change" in Moscow.
