Former President Bolsonaro falls completely from his pedestal
Things aren't looking good for Brazil's ex-president Jair Bolsonaro as evidence has emerged directly linking him to an attempted coup after he lost the 2022 elections. This is evident from a police report that was made public on Tuesday.
The far-right Bolsonaro was defeated by his left-wing opponent Lula da Silva in the 2022 presidential elections. After this, the ex-president appeared to have gone off the deep end. On January 8, 2023, shortly after the new President Lula had been sworn in, thousands of Bolsonaro supporters stormed the Brazilian parliament and the presidential palace, among other things. They also demanded that the military intervene so that Bolsonaro could return to power. And Bolsonaro appears to have actively participated in the coup attempt. Although he was abroad at the time, his role in the coup attempt appears to have been significant. According to the police, he was also "fully aware" of suspected plans to kill Lula. This is evident from a police report of more than 800 pages that has now been transferred to the Brazilian public prosecutor's office.
