Biden confuses Zelensky with Putin and makes Trump his vice president

U.S. President Joe Biden reiterated Thursday that he is not dropping out of the race to the White House. And he did so at an elaborate press conference marked by embarrassing slips of the tongue and painful mistakes.

The demented Joe Biden refuses to step aside, much to the displeasure of his own supporters, where former first lady Michelle Obama could still glue the pieces together in extremis for the Democrats.

But the current president doesn't want to hear of giving up. He emphasized that in a gripping interview with ABC last Friday. "Only if the Lord Almighty came down and said 'Joe, get out of the race,' would I do that. But the Lord doesn't come down." But within his own party, discontent is growing and he realizes that his mental preparedness has become a major problem in the meantime.

On Thursday, he reiterated once again that he will not withdraw from the U.S. presidential election. But the 81-year-old president's many slips of the tongue once again exposed his vulnerability to the entire world. The Democrat regularly stumbled over his words, talking about "Vice President Trump," after also announcing Ukrainian head of state Zelensky as "President Putin."

Is Trump his vice president?
While he wanted to talk about his running mate Kamala Harris Biden spoke of "Vice President Trump": "I wouldn't have elected Vice President Trump if I didn't think she was qualified to be president." His government members in the room batted their eyes.

Putin instead of Zelenski
Earlier in the evening, at the end of the NATO summit, Biden had also blundered painfully by announcing Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski as "President Putin."

Biden seemed very aware that the press conference would be viewed with suspicion. He corrected most of his slips as quickly as possible, covering himself several times with statements such as, "don't hold me to this exact number" or "I don't want to quote an exact number and then find out I was wrong."

'I have already beaten him once'
Biden repeated while often stumbling over his words and coughing that he is "the most qualified candidate" for the presidency. "I beat him (Trump) once and I will beat him again. I'm not doing this for my legacy, I'm doing this to finish the job I started," Biden said.
