Spain braces for more disastrous storms
As Spain is barely recovering from the deadly floods that hit the Valencia region, the country is already bracing for another round of storms.
King Felipe VI, who was met with mud splashes during his visit to the affected area, is expected to return to the region soon.
Last weekend, protests took place with over 100,000 people calling for local officials to resign due to their inaction despite meteorologists’ warnings.
Heavy rain has continued to fall across eight regions in Spain, especially in Catalonia and the Valencia region, where at least 214 people lost their lives two weeks ago. The Balearic Islands were also hit by torrential rain and high winds.
On October 29, a year’s worth of rain fell in less than eight hours in Valencia, significantly damaging infrastructure and destroying crops.
Protesters have also demanded that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez step down, along with the president of the Valencia region, Carlos Mazon.
