Man with knife arrested at Belgian prime minister's official residence
Belgian military police on Monday morning arrested a man armed with a knife at the Belgian prime minister's official residence, 16 rue de la Loi.
Brussels police confirmed that around 10 o'clock Monday morning a man was apprehended at 16 rue de la Loi who was allegedly armed with a knife and had made threats against military personnel present. The man was overpowered and the officers were not injured.
Alexander De Croo, Belgium's outgoing prime minister, said he was ‘shocked’ by the incident. He was not present at his official residence at the time. It is not yet clear what the man's motives were.
