Vladimir Putin wants peace

Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow is seeking to set the necessary conditions for a peace agreement in Ukraine.

As the conflict between the two neighboring countries enters its third year, a resolution still seems distant. However, the Russian leader praised the "balanced" solution proposed jointly by China and Brazil.

First introduced in May, the two countries suggested easing tensions by resuming talks without requiring Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

However, Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected this proposal, insisting that Russian forces must completely withdraw from Ukraine before any peace negotiations could begin.

In addition, the Russian president announced that he will not attend the upcoming G20 summit in Brazil this November.

Vladimir Putin, 72, has been under an international arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for over a year due to his involvement in the deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children.

"I have wonderful friendly relations with President Lula but why would I go there on purpose to disrupt the normal work of this forum," he told reporters.
