Ukraine sets up military office in Russia
Ukrainian troops have seized control of the Russian city of Sudzha. So reports President Volodimir Zelenski. The Ukrainians have even established a military office on Russian territory for the first time since the start of the war.
This is an administrative branch in Sudzha, which Ukrainian General Oleksandr Syrsky said would "maintain law and order" and "meet the immediate needs of the population in the area."
On Thursday, President Zelensky confirmed that his troops had taken Sudzha, a Russian town about 100 kilometers southwest of the city of Kursk. Sudzha is strategically very important because it is next to a Russian gas terminal.
