"This is an Hitler-style ultimatum"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a guest at the G7 summit in Borgo Egnazia, Puglia, Italy, has rejected Putin's "ultimatum" in exchange for a ceasefire.
The Russian president's conditions for a peace deal are massive: Kiev must give up part of the occupied territories and reject its plans to join NATO. Speaking to Italian news channel SkyTG24, Zelensky stated that Ukraine will not give in to Putin's "Hitler-style ultimatum".
He "wants us to give up part of our occupied territory, but he also wants those that are not occupied", says the Ukrainian president. "These messages are ultimatums (...) Hitler did the same thing, when he said 'Give me part of Czechoslovakia and we'll leave it at that'. No, these are lies".
