Putin's major blunder
During a meeting with journalists, the Kremlin boss said that the Ukrainian army is losing about 25,000 soldiers a month.
The only problem is that Putin also pointed out that the ratio of losses of Ukrainian and Russian troops, i.e. the number of deaths, is 5 to 1. In other words, if Putin admits that 25,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, the number of Russians killed, according to him, is 5,000. A major blunder in Putin's communication.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) disagrees with him: according to the American think tank, there is no evidence of such high losses on the Ukrainian side. According to statistics, the number of Russian wounded casualties is three times higher than the number of killed soldiers. That means the Russian army is dealing with 15,000 wounded soldiers.
So the Russians are losing 20,000 people a month. And this is only a minimal estimate recognised by the Russian authorities. The real figure could be much higher.
Small reminder: according to official figures alone, around 80,000 Soviet soldiers were wounded and killed during the 10 years of the terrible war in Afghanistan. Russia has lost as many people in 4 months in the war against Ukraine as in 10 years of war in Afghanistan.
