"Every day that passes brings us closer to a third world war"
Hungary's foreign minister has spoken out about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. His message is, to put it mildly, very different from statements made by other European countries.
"Not a day passes without another idiotic statement coming out of the mouth of one of our European political colleagues. Some want to send soldiers to Ukraine. Others already dream of using nuclear weapons. Every day that passes brings us closer to the threat of a world war," Péter Szijjártó declared.
"European politicians are speaking out about the use of nuclear weapons. The Russians are holding exercises to deploy tactical nuclear weapons. It is time to put an end to this madness."
According to Hungary's foreign minister, there is no military solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine: "Conflicts can only be resolved through negotiations. Therefore, Hungary continues to call on its European partners to put their energy into creating conditions for peace, instead of making wild statements that fuel fears of escalation. We hope that this war will end at the negotiating table."
