Surfer's leg washes up after shark attack
On Tuesday morning, a surfer was attacked by a shark near the Australian east coast resort of Port Macquarie.
The three-meter-long white shark bit the surfer's surfboard and ripped off his lower leg. A police officer who happened to be nearby was able to tie off the surfer's wound with a dog leash until emergency services arrived on the scene. Neighbors saw the leg washed ashore and immediately wrapped it in ice and handed it to emergency responders. The severed leg was flown to the hospital in Newcastle along with the surfer.
