United States sinks further into madness
Ammunition vending machines are being installed in supermarkets in the southern United States, in Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama. These vending machines will be powered by AI (artificial intelligence).
Indeed, in these states it is allowed to buy ammunition from the age of 18, for all shoulder-fired weapons: rifles and shotguns.
The famous Automated Ammo Retail Machine (AARM) is quite simple to use: you stand in front of the machine and enter your ID. Facial recognition software then analyses the buyer's face and identifies whether he or she is old enough to own ammunition.
The company behind the machines, American Rounds, says: "Our intelligent automated ammunition vending machines have built-in AI technology, ID card scanning capabilities and facial recognition software." So reports BFMTV.
Of course, not everyone is happy with this evolution. While facial recognition is a good thing, some have criticised the location of the machines (in grocery shops, where children can come and go) and the lack of 'human' supervision. This is because the machine would not detect any previous history of buyers.
