Girl (3) dies after tonsils removal
It was just a routine operation without any danger, doctors stressed, but a toddler did die in southern Perth, Australia, 9 days after having tonsillectomy.
The girl developed a high fever after the operation and could not be saved.
Because she often developed throat infections, as many children do, doctors recommended removing her tonsils. After all, that is a routine operation under light anesthesia, and after just one night in the hospital, she was allowed to go home. But then things went thoroughly wrong.
She developed a high fever and her parents immediately took her to the emergency room. There, according to her mom, she had to wait no less than 4 hours before she got to see a doctor. Critical hours passed. The girl was examined but sent home again, after which her health condition only worsened. She began coughing up blood, after which she ended up in the hospital again. She was put into an artificial coma to recover better. But her condition worsened visibly, and brain scans showed that Aliyah no longer had any brain activity. She died that night, nine days after her "routine surgery".
