12 dead above ski resort restaurant: what happened?

The ski resort of Gudauri in northern Georgia is in mourning. As many as 12 people were found dead in their sleeping quarters above a restaurant. They are 11 foreigners and one Georgian.

Initial investigation results indicate that the bodies show no signs of violence. The victims reportedly succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. According to local media, most of the victims are Indians who worked in the hospitality industry. “All our staff are dead,” one of the owners of the stricken restaurant told Guria News.

Because the electricity went out and it was particularly cold, it was decided to turn on a generator in the hall of the building, where staff members were sleeping. But the exhaust fumes and lack of ventilation poisoned the people in just half an hour.

A vendor at the Indian restaurant made the terrible discovery in the morning.
