Vladimir Putin not invited to Donald Trump’s inauguration
Vladimir Putin will not attend Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony next month, Moscow has revealed.
The Kremlin stated that the incoming U.S. president has not invited his Russian counterpart to the event, which will take place in Washington on January 20.
However, the billionaire has extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping, despite the fact that the future White House resident has threatened to impose tariffs on Chinese goods.
Karoline Leavitt, Donald Trump’s incoming press secretary, confirmed that the Chinese leader was indeed invited, although his attendance remains uncertain.
"This is an example of President Trump creating an open dialogue with leaders of countries that are not just our allies, but our adversaries and our competitors too," she said during an interview on Fox News.
"We saw this in his first term. He is willing to talk to anyone and he will always put America's interest first," she added.
