Trump takes lead over Harris in several swing states
New polls from The New York Times and Siena College show that Donald Trump has gained support in key states in the so-called Sun Belt, the states from the southeastern coast to the southwestern border of the United States: Trump has a lead in Arizona and Georgia and a narrow lead in North Carolina.
Voters, especially in these battleground states, believe that Trump has improved their lives during his presidency and are concerned about a Kamala Harris presidency. Despite the challenges, Harris remains competitive, especially in North Carolina, where Trump has a narrow lead.
In Arizona, Trump leads 50% to 45%, while his margins are narrower in Georgia and North Carolina. Harris is seeing her support slip among Latino voters and undecided voters, which could still affect the results. Economic concerns, inflation and immigration are the top priorities of voters, with many believing that Trump would do a better job on these issues than Harris.
While Harris is strong in the Midwest, including Pennsylvania, her performance in the Sun Belt remains crucial to the election. Both candidates face personal image issues, with voters concerned about Trump's character and Harris' economic policies. Despite Trump's legal challenges, many voters still see his policies as favorable.
