The return of Stalin in Russia
A new statue of Joseph Stalin is set to be installed in Russia.
The former Soviet leader, who ruled the USSR from 1924 until his death in 1953, will be honored with a statue in the city of Vologda, where he lived in exile from December 1911 to February 1912.
"This decision was made following public requests. There was demand," said Georgy Filimonov, the governor of the Vologda region.
With this monument, the governor aims for Joseph Stalin to be recognized for his "great achievements."
Russia's history is "a unique and indivisible chain of interconnected links in the historical process, each of which has shaped the strength, spirit, and will of our great nation," he added.
