Sergey Lavrov accuses the West of reviving Cold War
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused the West of attempting to reignite a Cold War.
Speaking in Malta on Thursday during a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Lavrov claimed the West was behind "a reincarnation of the Cold War, but with a much greater risk of escalating into a hot phase," according to Russian media outlet RIA Novosti.
This marked Sergey Lavrov’s first visit to Europe since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
During his speech, the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic were seen leaving the meeting in protest. Sergey Lavrov himself walked out when U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken began his remarks.
