Nord Stream sabotage: Germany knows the truth

Germany has identified the perpetrators of the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines following a two-year investigation.

In September 2022, the underwater pipelines were severely damaged, causing significant gas leaks. At the time, Denmark and Sweden suggested that Russia had deliberately sabotaged the pipelines, an allegation consistently denied by the Kremlin.

In a recent interview with the German news outlet Der Spiegel, Germany’s Attorney General Jens Rommel revealed that police have identified two suspects, though much work remains to be done in the case.

"We have succeeded in identifying two suspects. In my view, this is a success that was not necessarily to be expected at the start," he revealed.

Jens Rommel also confirmed that the deliberate sabotage targeted Germany's economy, aiming to disrupt its gas supply.

"This was a major attack on our country's energy supply that was capable of destabilizing the local economy and society - regardless of any political classification," he added.
