Kamala Harris's ace up her sleeve
He's an “everyman”, a right-hand man who, as La Dépêche specifies, ideally completes the “Harris” puzzle and seduces with his atypical background.
During the October 1st debate against his rival J.D Vance, Tim Walz appeared extremely calm. He even said he was “excited” at the announcement of this verbal confrontation. Kamala Harris’ running mate, a 60-year-old man from the Midwest, a former soldier, teacher and coach, very quickly won the hearts of Democrats.
But who is Tim Walz?
An “everyman” with modest origins, an army veteran, very attentive to farmers. A man capable of rallying the rural world and thus completing the resolutely urban profile of the Californian candidate, underlines La Dépêche.
Young Tim, born in Nebraska, spends many summers on his family farm. At the age of 17, he joined the National Guard and at the age of 24, he took off his uniform to devote himself to teaching. He then flourished as a teacher but also as an American football coach in a high school for almost 20 years. He drew his inspiration from his students, who strongly encouraged him to get involved in the political world. From 2006 to 2018, he was in the United States House of Representatives. In 2019, he was governor of the State of Minnesota. A passionate hunter but blacklisted by the gun lobby, Tim Walz remains a teacher at heart, he likes to share. Moreover, during his introductory speech, he didn't hesitate to confide in his fight, and that of his wife, to have a child, explaining the hell he experienced with infertility treatments.
