Stevie Wonder concert dates to promote “Can we Fix our Nation’s Heart?”
He is one of the world’s most distinctive and successful songwriters, also known for his positions on social issues. Recently, Stevie Wonder released a rare single, “Can we Fix our Nation’s Heart”. To underline the message prior to the US elections, he is going to take to the road for a small number of US shows.
And the message is? Well, it’s all in the title really. “Can we Fix our Nation’s Heart” is a very straightforward and heartfelt call for unity in the US. “Can we fix our nation’s broken heart?” he asks. “Are we brave enough to try?”
In terms of lyrics, it is far more straightforward than his more political releases such as “Living for the City” or “You Haven’t Done Nothing”. This might be due to his desire to reach more people without alienating anyone. So the song avoids having a preachy tone.
“…hope, once more, for a brighter future”
As one listener on YouTube put it, “The words of this song reflect how so many Americans feel about this country. They long for the days when all the chaos and division we have all had to endure of late are a thing of the past - and when there is hope, once more, for a brighter future for us, our children and our grandchildren”.
The song also features one of his distinctive harmonica solos.
The press release announcing Wonder’s upcoming performances notes that “as a special thank you, Wonder will be offering a designated amount of complimentary tickets to those in our communities who are already working tirelessly to fix our nation’s broken heart.”
The website StevieWonder.net is uniquely devoted to the song and shows.
