MasterChef: could Snoop Dog run the show?

Host Gregg Wallace has yet to be replaced

The fallout around the investigation into host Gregg Wallace’s behaviour on the British version of MasterChef continues. Earlier this week, the BBC decided to axe two major Christmas special editions: Celebrity MasterChef Christmas Cook-Off and MasterChef Meets Strictly Festive Extravaganza. Several of the contestants have commented on the news. In a statement posted to her social media, Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh wrote: "Beyond gutted about this decision after all the hard work we all put in.”

The regular edition featuring semi-amateur cooks will continue, however.

Meanwhile, as there are questions about Gregg Wallace, speculation is rising about who could replace him to appear alongside chef John Torode.

MasterChef has featured several notable chefs over the years, including Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver. Wading into the debate comes Snoop Dogg. In an interview with The Mirror, the US celebrity rapper threw his hat into the ring, claiming he can count on “his man” Gordon Ramsey, a judge in the US version, to help.

“You better believe Snoop could be the new MasterChef judge,” he told The Mirror. "[Ramsay] knows I am not playing when it comes to food. He knows I can cook. I hosted a cooking show over here [Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party] and I have always been vocal about wanting to work on a UK show. I love the place; this could be the perfect opportunity.”
