Extravagant: The world's biggest aircraft
American company Radia Aerospace has designed the world's largest transport aircraft: the Windrunner. Originally designed to transport wind turbine blades, it will now have other military and commercial uses.
The Windrunner is the entity's flagship project, intended to revolutionize global military transport. It measures 108 meters long, 24 meters high and has a wingspan of 80 meters.
The aircraft uses four engines and can reach a speed of 740 km/h. Despite its large size, it can land on short, unpaved runways which is essential for operating the aircraft in remote areas and on rough terrain. The goal is for the aircraft to be able to transport large wind turbine elements.
In terms of capacity, this aircraft can carry up to 72 tons therefore breaking the traditional concept of being able to move more weight than volume.
