Innocent Halloween party turns into Project X nightmare
A group of girls from Leuven, Flanders, wanted to have a fun Halloween party. In a limited company and with appropriate attire. But a small mistake caused 400 young people to suddenly show up.
The nine teenagers from the secondary school of the Heilig Hart Institute in Heverlee sent around an invitation online via Snapchat for a Halloween party. But a huge snowball effect ensued as soon as they sent the invitation out the door. The girls had written on the flyer that you had to bring your own drinks, and that your friends were also welcome. The friends were afraid that no one would show up. But the opposite turned out to be true! People showed up who had absolutely no connection to the girls at all. They came from all over the country and the street was soon filled with cars. Fireworks were even set off in the garden.
As many as 400 youths showed up and caused a hell of a racket, until nine police vans suddenly came with flashing lights to shut down the out-of-control party.
The parents of the girl in and around whose home the Halloween party took place and neighbors eventually called the police. The party was immediately shut down and everyone had to leave. Around 12:30, the house was cleared and the 400 revelers had returned home.
An experience the 16-year old girls will not soon forget!
