Bake a cake without butter?

Have you decided to omit butter from your diet, too rich in cholesterol? Are you lactose intolerant? Everyone has their own reason for using less or stopping butter entirely. So, is it possible to make your favorite cake, apple cake or creamy frangipane, without butter?

Rest assured, your cake is not doomed to failure: there are, in fact, many alternatives to replace (partially) butter.

Use a different fat
Replace the butter with an equivalent quantity of a different fat or supplement it with another fat until you obtain the desired quantity. For liquid substitutes, it's preferable to incorporate smaller doses into your preparations:

- vegetable margarine;
- coconut oil: be careful, this is a saturated fat and therefore less healthy, so use sparingly;
- sunflower oil or peanut oil: a great option, as they have a neutral taste and are heat-resistant;
- olive oil: because of its strong taste, it's best to use it only for savory pastries;

Applesauce
Did you know that applesauce is also a perfect substitute for butter? For a successful cake every time you decide to bake one, make sure you have a creamy applesauce (use a blender for this) and that you keep it at room temperature. Bonus: because apples are naturally sweet, there is no need to insist on sugar!
