US GIs ready to go ashore in case of war with Russia

According to the Telegraph, NATO is setting up multiple ground-based liaison corridors to bring US troops and armoured vehicles to the front lines in the event of a major land war with Russia in Europe.

Under current plans, US troops would land at Dutch ports and then be transported by train through Germany to Poland. But arrangements are also being made to extend the routes to other ports to ensure that land-based communications are not cut off by Russian troops.

‘US troops will be disembarked at one of the five ports and sent along pre-arranged logistical routes to counter a possible attack from Moscow,’ officials told The Telegraph.

If NATO troops, entering the war from the Netherlands, are hit by Russian bombing or northern European ports are destroyed, the alliance plans to concentrate on ports in Italy, Greece and Turkey. There are also plans to move troops through ports in the Balkans, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
