Russia expects incoming clash with NATO
Russia has alleged that NATO is preparing to send 100,000 troops to Ukraine, supposedly to act as peacekeepers and later assist Ukraine in "seeking revenge."
According to the Russian intelligence agency (SVR), several NATO member countries intend to occupy Ukraine under the pretext of deploying peacekeepers to maintain stability between the warring nations.
However, Moscow has not provided any evidence to support these claims. Meanwhile, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has reiterated that the alliance has no plans to deploy ground troops in Ukraine.
Russian intelligence further claims that NATO’s goal is to "freeze" the conflict temporarily while preparing a strategy to defeat Russia on the battlefield.
"The West considers the implementation of such a scenario as an opportunity to restore the combat capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and thoroughly prepare Kyiv for an attempt at revenge," the SVR said.
"NATO headquarters understands that without providing the Ukrainian Armed Forces with sufficient weapons and ammunition, the expectation that the Ukrainians will be able to conduct high-intensity combat operations over a long period of time is unrealistic," it added.
